What's New

Drew is seven months old now!  He's getting so big!  He is 27 inches long and weighs 16 lbs. He loves to eat all kinds of foods.  He is just starting to eat Cheerios and Puffcorns, or better known around here as Charlie Corns.  He likes to sit in his high chair and play with his little piano.

He still likes his bouncy seat and we recently got him an exersaucer.  Another one of his favorites is a video called Baby Mozart.  It shows different toys in action with Mozart music in the background.  His mom likes it because it gives her twenty minutes to get things done!

Drew was recently diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome.  It is hereditary and causes learning disabilities or mental retardation.  Since we found out in October, we enrolled Drew in Shelby Hills Early Childhood Center, where he receives physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.  We go twice a week for two hours each time. His doctor seems to think Drew will be only mildly affected by it.  To learn more about Fragile X Syndrome, visit the National Fragile X Foundation's website  www.fragilex.org

In January, we went on a trip to Kansas City, Kansas for a research study.  It was for children birth to age five with Fragile X Syndrome.  They put sensors on Drew's head and recorded his brain waves as he watched pictures flash on a screen.  They even roped me into doing it, since I am a carrier of Fragile X.  There are some pictures of our trip in the Latest Pictures section.

Eric is getting settled in to his job at Crown.  He is a  NT Network Administrator.  The good thing is, he likes it.  The bad thing is, that he has to wear a pager and has to go in after hours sometimes.   He is a wonderful provider for our family!
